How You Lead Shapes Everything

But when performance breaks down, you feel it quickly as a leader - in retention, productivity, decision-making, and the amount of time you spend stepping in to fix things that shouldn't need fixing.

Most organizations don't have a shortage of smart or well-intentioned leaders. They have a shortage of leaders who understand how to maximize their impact and get the best from their teams.

Tailored Consulting has worked with hundreds of leaders from dozens of organizations to strengthen their leadership and elevate their teams. We build self-awareness, leadership aptitude, and confidence in the areas that actually result in leadership excellence and team performance.

A short, no-pressure conversation to explore whether this approach is a fit for your leaders and organization.

Our Flagship Leadership Development Program

A structured program for organizations that need measurable change in leadership and team behavior, not just another training that fades after a week.

Common Leadership Challenges This Program Addresses

Capable leaders who don't lead consistently. Smart, experienced leaders who still struggle with follow-through, judgment under pressure, or adapting their style to different people.
Leadership behaviors that quietly weaken culture. Avoidance of hard conversations, mixed signals, tolerance of low standards, or interpersonal friction that slowly erodes trust and engagement.
Senior leaders compensating for leadership gaps below them. Executives spending time mediating issues or stepping into people problems that should be handled at the right level.
High performers struggling as they move into senior leadership roles. Strong individual contributors promoted into leadership without the awareness or tools needed to lead others effectively.
Leadership teams that slow execution instead of enabling it. Decision-making bottlenecks, misalignment, and unresolved dynamics that stall strategic initiatives.
Culture concerns without a clear path to address them. A weak, negative, or drifting culture, lacking clarity on which leadership behaviors need to change to correct it.

Program Components

An integrated system of development (not a collection of separate trainings). Each component reinforces the others.

One-on-One Executive Coaching

Individual coaching for each participating leader, focused on their specific development priorities and organizational goals.

How it works:

1-hour virtual coaching sessions with a dedicated coach twice a month for the duration of the program. Each leader will have the opportunity to meet with multiple coaches before making a decision about who they'd like to work with. Leaders will take the CliftonStrengths assessment and have a 360-feedback survey included as a resource in their coaching sessions.

Current State Culture Snapshot

Two organization-wide surveys will be administered by Tailored Consulting, one at the beginning and one at the end of the program.

How it works:

Anonymous survey of employees at multiple levels. Results identify patterns in characteristics of distinctive cultures. These surveys accompany training for the leaders on how to understand and shape organizational culture, specifically tailored to your organization's results. Leaders will learn to shape existing culture behaviors and hire for better culture alignment.

In-Person Leadership Retreats

Tailored Consulting will provide expert facilitation and training services for one or more leadership retreats hosted by your organization.

How it works:

Timing, duration, and topics are co-designed with you and tailored to your organization's priorities. Leaders will learn and practice new skills together and establish shared language and commitments. Topics can include any of the workshop topics listed in the "Workshops" section below, plus any strategic planning exercises you would like included by our expert facilitators.

Monthly Leadership Mastermind

Virtual group training sessions where leaders discuss real challenges, learn new leadership competencies, and share accountability for growth.

How it works:

Facilitated 90-minute virtual sessions. Sessions include skill-building and application exercises. Topics are selected in partnership with your organization's executive sponsor of the program and will include many of the topics listed in the "Workshops" section below. These monthly sessions cultivate better connection, knowledge sharing, and rapport among your leaders.

Proven Core, Tailored Implementation

The core of this program structure is standardized based on what works. But true to our name, we will partner with you to tailor the implementation based on the needs of your organization and people.

This workshop introduces a strengths-based approach to leadership and teamwork. Leaders learn how to recognize and leverage individual talents, reduce friction caused by overuse or misunderstanding of strengths, and align roles and responsibilities more effectively. The focus is on practical application, helping teams work better together by understanding how people naturally think, feel, and behave at work.

Building a Strengths-Based Team

Leaders play a significant role in employee wellbeing. This workshop explores concepts from Gallup's book "Well Being: The Five Essential Elements" and how leadership behavior, expectations, and culture directly impact each one. Employees will feel seen and heard, while leaders will learn practical insights into how everyday decisions and interactions either support or undermine sustainable performance and engagement.

5 Essential Elements of Wellbeing

This workshop focuses on helping leaders apply coaching principles in their day-to-day management of individual contributors. Participants learn how to ask better questions, listen more effectively, and support growth without micromanaging or solving problems for others. The emphasis is on practical tools leaders can use immediately, and the workshop includes in-session practice.

Coaching for People Leaders

Employee engagement is shaped by leadership behavior more than by perks or programs. This workshop helps leaders understand the key drivers of engagement and how their daily actions influence motivation, commitment, and performance. Leaders will leave with a clearer understanding of where to focus their effort and how engagement initiatives often miss the mark.

Shaping Employee Engagement

Miscommunication is one of the most common sources of frustration and inefficiency in organizations. This workshop helps leaders communicate more clearly, confidently, and relationally, especially in high-stakes or uncertain situations. Participants will learn how to align message, tone, and intent to improve understanding and build stronger connections with their teams.

Communicating with Clarity, Confidence, and Connection

This workshop helps leaders make sense of organizational culture using real data from Culture Snapshot results. Participants explore how culture is reinforced through everyday leadership behavior and learn practical ways to align actions with desired cultural outcomes. The focus is on understanding what to do with culture insights, not just naming values or aspirations.

Understanding & Shaping Organizational Culture

This workshop introduces the popular and well-respected Situational Leadership approach, helping leaders understand when to provide direction, support, or autonomy based on an individual's development and the task at hand. Leaders will learn how to avoid over- or under-leading and develop greater flexibility in how they support their teams.

Situational Leadership

This workshop focuses on both sides of the feedback equation. Leaders learn how to give feedback in a way that is clear, respectful, and actionable, while also developing the mindset and habits required to receive feedback openly. A key emphasis is building an "ask-first" culture, where leaders and teams actively seek feedback as a normal part of growth.

Giving and Receiving Feedback

Based on Crucial Conversations by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler. Difficult conversations are unavoidable in leadership roles. This workshop draws on the principles from Crucial Conversations to help leaders develop the skills and confidence needed to handle high-stakes discussions productively.

Crucial Conversations

Based on The Fearless Organization by Amy Edmondson. Psychological safety is essential for learning, innovation, and healthy team dynamics. Leaders will learn to examine how their behavior either encourages or discourages speaking up and learn practical ways to reduce fear-based silence so people can contribute honestly and effectively.

The Fear-LESS Organization

Based on The Thin Book of Trust by Charles Feltman. This workshop explores the core components of trust and helps leaders identify behaviors that increase or erode trust over time. Participants will gain practical insight into how trust impacts collaboration, accountability, and performance, and how to intentionally strengthen it.

Building Blocks of Trust

Based on The 6 Types of Working Genius by Patrick Lencioni. This workshop introduces Patrick Lencioni's six types of working genius and helps teams understand where people naturally thrive or struggle throughout the project lifecycle. Leaders will learn how to better align roles and responsibilities, reducing frustration and improving team effectiveness.

6 Types of Working Genius

This workshop focuses on personal leadership identity. Leaders identify their core values, reflect on how those values show up in their leadership behavior, and develop a personal leadership purpose statement. The goal is greater alignment between who leaders are, how they lead, and what they expect from others.

Be You: Personal Leadership

Based on Leadership and Self-Deception by The Arbinger Institute. This workshop explores how self-justifying mindsets distort perception and damage leadership effectiveness. Leaders will examine how increased self-awareness and personal responsibility can lead to more effective leadership and healthier working relationships.

Leadership & Self-Deception

This session introduces the psychological and neurological foundations behind how leaders process information, interpret meaning, and communicate, often outside of conscious awareness. Even highly capable leaders can unintentionally create misalignment or resistance when their language, assumptions, or internal state trigger threat responses in themselves or others. Participants will learn practical, real-time techniques drawn from neuroscience to adapt their communication, increase rapport, and influence outcomes more effectively.

The Psychology of Communication

This session explores how the brain responds to uncertainty and how that response often shows up in leadership communication as over-analysis, avoidance, or rigidity—with direct reports, peers, and senior leaders. Participants will learn practical frameworks to cut through ambiguity and make sound decisions in high-stakes situations, even with incomplete information. The session also addresses how to communicate those decisions with confidence and clarity, without creating false certainty or unnecessary risk.

Leading Through Ambiguity

Burnout is not about hours worked - it is about how stress is managed over time, particularly at higher levels of leadership. Stress, cognitive load, and emotional regulation directly impact judgment, communication, and performance, often long before leaders realize there is an issue. This session helps leaders understand emotional triggers and stress responses, strengthen Emotional Intelligence, and apply practical strategies to manage capacity, capability, and motivation - for themselves and their teams - before burnout takes hold.

Leading Energy, Not Just Output

If one or more of these topics looks relevant, the next step is a conversation about what would be most useful for your leaders and organization.

About

About Tailored Consulting

Tailored Consulting is a leadership development and executive coaching firm based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We partner with organizations that care about how their leaders show up, make decisions, and shape culture day to day.

We specialize in leadership development, executive coaching, and organizational culture. Our work bridges the gap between conceptual ideas and practical application, helping leaders translate insight into behavior change that improves individual and business performance.

Since founding Tailored Consulting in 2021, we've facilitated hundreds of workshops and worked with leaders across more than 50 organizations, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to growing teams and first-time managers. Our work spans industries and leadership levels, but the challenges we help leaders address are remarkably consistent. Our approach starts with the leader and is grounded in self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and developing proven leadership competencies.

Our coaching and facilitation team is intentionally small and highly qualified. All executive coaches are ICF-certified and Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths Coaches, bringing both professional rigor and real-world experience to their work. Leaders are given a voice in selecting their coach, which increases buy-in and leads to stronger outcomes.

In addition to coaching and workshops, we developed the Culture Codex, a proprietary framework that helps leaders understand and shape organizational culture in concrete, measurable ways. Rather than treating culture as an abstract concept, we help leaders see how everyday behavior reinforces the culture they already have and shapes the culture they want.

Tailored Consulting is a small business by design. We value depth over volume, consistency over scale, and meaningful work over noise. Our goal is to help leaders become more capable, confident, and effective as they learn to discover more joy and fulfillment through leadership.
